If we look around in nature, whether it is a shrub that is trimmed or a kitten that has hurt its leg, over time it heals. Post a few days of trimming when we obverse the shrub closely, exactly at the place that it was cut, green new shoots start springing afresh. The kitten will keep licking and cleaning the wound leaving the healing to nature. Gradually where it was hurt, new cells start forming into a layer of skin that slowly grows and strengthens into the place from where the old was lost. Similarly when either we get bruised on the surface or bump into something and there is internal muscular hurt, given time and some medical aid, we heal. When the loss is not a possibility to regain, the living learns to apply its other faculties to adjust and move on to flourish, the journey does not stop.
The complexity gets added into our existence because as humans we have as much of a psychological body as we have a physical one. So during our lifetime we need to deal with psychic wounding along with our physical ruptures or fractures. The key here is that we are born with capacity to psychologically heal and get cured of our psychological wounds.
The problem largely though is that yet in India, the key is still buried beneath taboo and shame. As a nation, it is only in the last 5 to 10 years that some part of the urban population has moved towards both acceptance and awareness of psychological issues. The Maanas practice therefore, apart for the actual therapy session, focuses a lot on psycho-educating the clients and their families and care givers.
As our therapy practice philosophy, we believe that the client knows the best what is paining within and given a little support, has all the internal capability and resourcefulness to understand where his/her psychological problems are stemming from. Therefore, the client is also the best judge to choose from different alternatives, what he/she wants as the pathway for healing.
We provide child and adolescent counseling, career counseling, individual therapy, couples therapy and group therapy to cater to different healing needs of our clients.
We provide different kinds of therapeutic approaches to suit client personalities like Person Centered Therapy, Codependency Model, Transactional Analysis and Psychodrama; the common underlying philosophy being, respect for the individual and their healing energy and resourcefulness.
